Jesus is the most influential person in world history.
About 2000 years ago he was born in Bethlehem and grew up in Galilee. As a man he worked and taught his fellow Jews about God’s kingdom until he was executed by the Romans. He was 33 years old.
But … unlike any other human being, Jesus Christ came back to life after three days, never to die again!
Jesus Christ is no ordinary man – he is the divine Son of God. Together with God the Father and God the Spirit, they are the three persons of the one God.
Having conquered death Jesus reigns as King of God’s kingdom. Before him everyone will one day bow and acknowledge his rule.
[Jesus] being in very nature God,
did not consider equality with God
something to be used to his own advantage;
rather, he made himself nothing
by taking the very nature of a servant,
being made in human likeness.
And being found in appearance as a man,
he humbled himself
by becoming obedient to death–
even death on a cross!
Therefore God exalted him to the highest place
and gave him the name that is above every name,
that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow,
in heaven and on earth and under the earth,
and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord,
to the glory of God the Father.¹
Why did Jesus come to earth as a man and die?
Because every person in the world, created by God and valuable to him, has rejected him as king and lives rebelling against his ways. This is called sin. Because of sin, every human being deserves to die and then face God’s anger.
But because of his great love, God sent Jesus to die and face his anger in our place. A great gift that means we can be saved and live eternally.
Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners²

When you arrive we’ll give you a friendly hello and help you find a seat.
At 9:30 we begin the structured part of church.
This usually includes singing a few songs, praying to God, and reading some of the Bible. We explore what the Bible passage means in a 20 minute talk.
During this time preschool and primary aged children have a program just for them that usually has Bible teaching, songs, games and craft.
After the structured part of the morning we enjoy some morning tea together (provided!).
We meet in the Jordan Springs Community Hub. It’s the community centre operated by Penrith City Council at the corner of Lakeside Parade and Cullen Avenue. Diagonally opposite the pharmacy – you can’t miss it.
If you’re driving, please enter the car park from Lakeside Parade.

Having seen the development of Jordan Springs over the past few years, a number of local Christian families have seen an opportunity to serve this new community by beginning Jordan Springs Anglican Church.
One of these families is our pastor Toby, his wife Carolyn and their four children. Once a high school maths teacher, Toby has previously been a leader in churches at Cranebrook, Redfern and Engadine.
If you have a question about Jordan Springs Anglican Church feel free to email him directly (firstname.lastname@example.org).
Jordan Springs Anglican Church is a church of TOMS Anglican Churches. This means we work in close partnership with St Thomas’, Cranebrook and Christ Church, Castlereagh. Together we run mid-week events such as TOMS Kids and TOMS Youth, Playgroup and Mothers of Pre-schoolers for parents and children under school age, men’s and women’s events, and community events throughout the year.
